It's a....

Mitch and I have known for almost a month what our precious baby is, but with the craziness of school here is the news! Thank goodness finals are over! Ironically we found out on the two year anniversary of Mitch proposing to me (November 14th)! Well if you look at the picture below there is no denying that we are having a little girl! :) We are so thrived and it is such a relief, because when I found out I was pregnant I went out garage selling with a very dear friend and ended up buying TONS of little girls clothes... ha ha. I also think it was a relief for my mom, because she could not help but buy little girl outfits as well.

Mitch and I also think that we have decided on her name. Jordyn Lynn Guenther! Mitch really liked the name Jordyn. Her middle name will be after her Grandma Murray which is her middle name as well. We are so excited, and it seems to become more and more really as the days go by and my belly gets bigger. When I get out of the just looking fat phase I promise to post a picture. Until then here is a the family picture Mitch and I took this year.

Ultrasound Pictures

It seems so surreal that Mitch and I are having a baby! I can't believe we are 15 weeks, and I have finally entered into the second trimester. Which is great for me because my energy is finally back and I haven't felt any weird nausea for over a week!

When Mitch and I found out we were having a baby we scheduled our first appointment with my OBGYN thinking we were 9 weeks along only to find out that we were really 7 weeks along. So our first ultrasound was a little disappointing because the baby just looked like a vague blob. But then we heard about the nuMOM2b study and that they would give us 3 extra ultrasounds for free! Of course I jumped on that opportunity and I went to my first visit about a week and a half ago. Here are the pictures. I hope you enjoy them. :)

It was really neat to see a baby this time and here the baby's heartbeat so clearly. My favorite part about the visit was that every time the tech would go to measure the crown of the head to the bum the baby would either decide to kick out its legs or to turn its back to us. It was pretty adorable. In the picture to the right you can see the baby's profile with its and and legs kicked out.

Here is a better profile picture of our little munchkin. Do you see its cute little belly?

This was my favorite picture from the ultrasound I just think that the little foot is precious. Next Monday will be really exciting because we will be able to find out the baby's gender! We can't wait. I think it will be a little hard to focus this week, because we are so excited. Any guesses as to whether it is going to be a boy or a girl?

The World Series

Well the Cardinals won their 11th World Series on Friday. I watched all of the games (as best as one can with one TV and no DVR). I was confident during the entire series that the Cardinals could win the World Series. I watched as Pujols hit 3 homeruns in one game, and David Freese hitting a two run triple in the bottom of the 9th to tie the game in Game 6. I saw Lance Berkman tie Game 6 in the bottom of the 10. Then I saw David Freese hit the game winning homerun in the bottom of the 11th inning. Game 6 was an emotional roller coaster for me. Emily could not stay in the same room as me because I was upset at the Cardinals at the beginning of the game and I was being snappy and rude to her so she went into the bedroom to study. I watched the rest of the game and at 11pm I was clapping loud, yelling, cheering, etc. My neighbors probably hate us but since the World Series is over I should be okay for another year. Game 7 started off sloppy but slowly turned into a good game with the Cardinals pulling out on top.

I feel for the Rangers though. Having played baseball for several years I have had those games where we were one out, or one strike away from winning and losing the game. I can only remember a handful of games from my playing days. All of those games though were either emotional highs or emotional lows. Some of the games that I remember is when someone on my team threw either a perfect game or a no hitter. I remember I caught the final out of that game. My dad was the coach and it was a fun game to be play. I remember my freshman year of high school during the school year. I remember hitting the smack out of the ball. I cannot remember how many triples I hit but I know I hit several. I also did not strike out at all during the high school season. That summer was one of my favorites when I played. I remember playing in Wichita and having some great plays at first base and also losing in the bottom of the 7th to a great team. We were up by one and the pitcher gave up a walk off hit which knocked us out of the tournament.

The next year I remember playing against my little brother, Wes. I was on the 16 and under "Major" team and Wes was on the 16 and under team just below the "Major" team. We were both playing for Old Ballgame and we played each other a couple of times during that year. The hardest one though was when we were playing for the Kansas State Championship and Wes and I played against each other. It was hard because I had friends on both teams and it was hard to play against them. I did not start that game but I did come in later and made a difference for my team. My team did go on and win but it was hard because I saw the emotion on my little brother, and how my parents were conflicted. My dad was one of the coaches for Wes's team and my mom sat right in the middle and cheered for both. They wanted to be happy for me, but also feel bad for Wes. I cannot imagine how my parents felt.

After that season I did not want to play against Wes ever again. The next year I got my wish...Wes and I were on the same team. I loved that year of baseball. I remember playing at the Kansas State Tournament and Wes and I would bat one, two. One of us would get on base and the other would drive them in. Wes and I carried our team through the State Tournament but we were not able to defend our title. We then went on to the World Series in Oklahoma. I did not play a single game until our final game. I played the final three outs in the field, and after that game I hung up my cleats on the most sour note. I felt betrayed, hurt, my confidence was shaken. I could not understand why I did not play a game, why the coach never game me a chance after I had proven myself all year. I was so mad and angry for so long about that last tournament, but I slowly got over it and I cannot imagine how hard it was for my coach to please everyone.

My last games were when I was at BYU-Idaho from January - August 2005. I played baseball during that summer, but again I did not play much but I was okay because I was out there playing baseball and I loved every minute of that season. Last year my dad, Wes, Seth, and I all went down into the batting cage underneath the baseball field at BYU and I was able to hit again for the first time in 5 years. And not to brag I did amazing ha ha. This past September I was able to play catch with my dad for the first time in probably 6 years. That meant a lot to me because I love this game and my dad was my coach for several years. He taught me how to love the game and how to think smart while I played. So playing catch with him this past September was amazing to me.

Sorry for the rambling but I had a lot of thoughts when I watched the Rangers Cardinals series. I felt for the Cardinals because I have won those kind of games but I also felt for the Rangers because I have had those tough losses. Again I love baseball and go see Moneyball one of the best baseball games out there. I cannot wait for April when the baseball season starts up again.

So......

So it has been almost another 6 months since Emily or I updated our blog. We do have some news, Emily is pregnant and she hits 12 weeks tomorrow. Emily is due April 29, 2012 right after graduation. Emily and I will both be walking in April and Emily will finish up her internship and be done in July.

We are both still going to school and working hard. Emily is finishing up her last semester of classes and starting in January she will start her 6 month internship at Utah Valley Hospital. I am finishing up the last of my business class this semester and next. Emily is still working at the MTC (Missionary Training Center) and I work there on Sundays for the breakfast shift. I am still working with Ladd up in Salt Lake City. My internship is moving right along we now have a website and our Facebook page is moving along same with our Twitter. Here is our website Social Commerce Exchange here is our Facebook page: Facebook and here is our Twitter account: Twitter. If you have a Facebook please "Like" us if you are interested in Social Media and "Follow" us on Twitter as well.

Life is good and we are both happy and excited about the new addition to our family. We find out in about a month if we are having a girl or a boy. We are going to try and update our blog a lot more regularly than we have in the past.

UPDATE!!

Okay it is time to update Emily and my blog. Let me start with Emily. She is working at the Missionary Training Center (MTC) still as a supervisor. She works Monday, Wednesday, and Friday so it isn't too bad which is nice. She is also going to school taking 7 credits. She is taking Cell Biology, Microbiology Lab, and Technical Writing. They are all very time consuming but she is doing a great job and is over halfway done!! Emily went to garage sales this past weekend with our good friend Holly (she came to our wedding with her husband Alex Steed). Emily bought some good stuff Notting Hill for a dollar, 50 First Dates for a dollar, a sweet Tommy tie for 25 cents, a Harley Davidson book for Luke and a cool car for Luke. She does great with the kids and she is always playing with them. She built Luke and Lily a castle out of cardboard boxes a couple of weeks ago and they always talk about it still. Luke and Lily also bring up how Emily needs to build them their Chain Chomp Bean Bag (Chain Chomp is from Mario Kart on the Wii). Needless to say the kids love having Emily around to do crazy and spontaneous things.

Then there is me and what I am doing. On Saturday June 4th I am taking my big test. I am a little scared but it should not be too bad...I hope ha ha. The main thing that I have been doing though is my internship. I am working for Vukii and I am in-charge of their Social Media. I go up to Salt Lake City near Little Cottonwood Canyon for work everyday. I head up there because the other company that Ladd is heading up is doing Social Media stuff so I am working with them to move things forward for that company and also for Vukii. To get a good grasp of what I am doing I highly recommend watching the video at the bottom of this post. I like what I am doing the only thing that I do not like is the commute. I leave at 7 am every morning get to work at 8 am. I leave work around 4:30 pm and I get home around 5:45 pm. It is okay though I am getting paid nicely and it is guaranteed 40 hours a week so I am not complaining. That is all in Emily and my life right now.

Internships

So Emily and I both have some fantastic internship opportunities right now. For Emily's major she has to work in a hospital for six months starting next January 2012 and it ends in July 2012. She could have been sent to St. George, Provo, American Fork, Murray, Salt Lake City, and Idaho Falls, Idaho. Luckily Emily is staying close and will be at Provo hospital, which is right down the street from BYU. It is an unpaid internship but she can pick up 20 hours a week and will get paid for those hours.

As of right now I am working with a consulting company called RPM LLC. It is a lot of fun and I have been creating a blog and putting posts about entrepreneurs and such on the blog. Go check it out it is for a company called DooBizz. I have been looking for another internship though because I would rather be doing something else and I got an email about an internship opportunity here in Orem for a startup company called Vukii Watersports. I sent my resume in the day I received the email and two days later I got a phone call from Mark Webb who did a phone interview with me. He then told me that I would be interviewing with him personally last Thursday and it went super well. There were three parts of the interview, the first part was a behavioral interview, then I had to take a test that quizzed my problem solving skills, and the last part was on the computer and how well I could follow directions. He emailed me a couple of days later and I then set up another interview with the main guy for yesterday and it went really well. What we did though was more of he explained to me what my responsibility would be and what characteristics he was looking for and then instructed me to go home and think about if this is something I really want to do. If it is something I want to do then I need to email Mark Webb by Monday saying yes I do and then we will go from there. I am excited and I hope it moves forward because it would be an awesome opportunity. The company has no financial models, no budgets, no accounting, and no forecasts. Basically I would be doing all of that, there are seven employees and they are all engineers and I would be the only business guy. I would be over all of the finances, which is a huge responsibility but a great learning experience which is something that I am very interested in doing. I will keep ya'll posted on what happens with this opportunity.

Hiking the Y

So I am about to post a couple of posts here explaining what has been happening with Emily and I since we got married in May ha ha. To start off Emily, Danielle (Emily's cousin), and I hiked the Y last Saturday before the 2nd session of General Conference. It was a lot of fun and the first time I have hiked the Y since I came and visited Cari and Katie when they were still going to school here at BYU/UVSC. We took a couple of pictures and Emily and I laid upside down on the Y and it was freaky ha ha.

WAY TOO LONG!!!!

Okay so it has been a while since I have updated this blog thingy but it is our day off today so I decided to get cracking on updating the blog. Everything is going well. We got married on May 7th and both Emily's and my siblings were there which was fantastic. It was super hot and humid but very pretty and we would not have traded it for the world. We headed on down to Corpus Christi for our honeymoon and it was fantastic. The wind was blowing the entire time at a constant 40 mph. We did go to the beach but with the wind we did not stay long. We did go to the retired battle ship that was there and that was really cool. They shot part of the movie Pearl Harbor in the boat which was cool because they have a Pearl Harbor memorial inside the boat that we toured. We ate at some good restaurants, Joe's Crab Shack, Buffalo Wild Wings, On the Border, and Katz 21 (a steak restaurant really good but way too pricey). After the honeymoon we headed back to Houston and stayed the night there and then started our long drive to Kansas City and then onto Provo. We had a fantastic reception at Deer Creek Golf Club where I worked at for a number of years. It was super pretty with awesome food and company. Emily's sister Melissa and her family were in town so they came to the reception. Seth was able to be there and he took pictures of Emily and I and especially of Emily's train!! We left on Sunday morning to start our drive to Provo and it was good until about halfway through Wyoming when we both died ha ha. We are now moved into our apartment and it is very nice and still working on making it our own. But Emily has done a great job of adding color to our apartment and making crafts. She has been very crafty over the past couple of weeks, it is really cool some of the things she makes out of almost nothing. Sorry about no pictures but we will be adding some later when I get them off of my camera.

ENGAGEMENT PICTURES

Sorry that I have been a total slacker on updating this thing ha ha. Emily and I went to Houston this past week took our engagement pictures and planned a bunch of the wedding. This is what we have so far: our colors orange, pink, with black and white as accent colors. The place of the reception which will be at an outdoor pavilion and you can go to this link and see pictures of it at this link PAVILION. We took our engagement pictures here and we just love the layout and how it looks. Emily and I are figuring out center pieces, food for the reception her bouquet and all that other fun stuff. I think we are having a 4 tier cake and the cake will be chocolate and either lemon or strawberry. Things are moving along and here are some of my favorite engagement pictures that we took...enjoy!

BYU vs Utah Game

Emily and I all week were debating about trying to sell our tickets or not. We finally decided to just go and enjoy ourselves because the next time it will be at BYU will be in two years when we will both be seniors and on our last leg of school. Our seats were not bad on the 10 yard line on the east bleachers about 20 rows from the top. We came out hot and it felt good, but then the start of the second half BYU looked flat and that was not good. Emily and I both got scared but we went into OT and I was pretty excited for that. Utah kicked a field goal to go ahead by three. We then got the ball and on our second play Max Hall threw an amazing pass to George who basically walked it in for the touchdown and the win. GO BYU!!!!!!

BUSINESS SCHOOL

I found out on Wednesday that I got accepted into the Marriott Business School of Management. I will be emphasizing in Finance. I am so excited and thank you to everyone for helping with my essay and giving me some needed advice. I appreciate everything that ya'll have done. From what I have heard the Finance program is comparable in hardness to the Accounting program so I am excited about that. It is a two year degree so I will be done in December 2011 but Emily I think will be done in April 2012 so I might hold off on graduation so we can walk together. I start classes next semester, and I meet with a graduation counselor in the business program on Monday. I am so excited and thank you for the prayers and thoughts.

I AM ENGAGED!!!

I am ENGAGED!!! To some in my family that is a huge surprise ha ha ha. I asked Emily yesterday November 14th at roughly 3:00 pm. I had her do an Amazing Race type format around campus. She went from classroom to classroom that had some kind of significance. It all started after she got home from her Chemistry review she jumped into the shower to get ready for the day. I walked over to her apartment and talked to her roommates and told them to read Emily her first clue when she gets out of the shower. Her first clue said she had one hour to get ready for the day. Once she got ready she had to figure out the clue of where she was heading next.
Her roommate dropped her off on campus and Emily headed to her Anatomy/Molecular Biology classroom. Our mutual friend was there that said Anatomy 101 on the board. Emily played the game Operation with Amber and every bone or organ that Emily pulled out she had to say something interesting about that body part.
Emily then headed to her old German classroom where she had to put together a How-To that was randomly drawn. Her How-To was "How to write in cursive." She then had a German noun, verb, and adjective that she had to incorporate into her How-To. Her noun was boa constrictor, verb was to kiss, and her adjective was odorless. She did a great job from what I was told.
She then headed to her Chemistry classroom where my good friends Adam and Caleb were waiting with my little brother Wes. Caleb, Wes, and Emily were all contestants and Adam was the game show host. They played a game that is a mix between Who Wants to be a Millionaire and Jeopardy. Whomever won the game got a free meal to their favorite fast-food restaurant. Emily won...of course and I was kind of disappointed in Wes but it is all good ha ha ha.
Then Emily headed to her Book of Mormon classroom where her sister and brother-in-law were waiting. She had to act out her favorite Book of Mormon story and had to incorporate the props that her sister brought and she used her brother-in-law as one of the characters.
She ended in the classroom that we first met last semester in Calculus. I had written up a math problem that she had to do while I was hiding in the seats. As she tried to figure it out I popped out of the seats and went up there and talked to her. I then told her how much I loved her and then dropped down on one knee and asked her to marry me. She said yes and we are now engaged ha ha!!!

This was in the room with Amber and Emily having to play the game Operation.

I AM HORRIBLE

Oh man I am horrible at updating this thing and I apologize to everyone that reads this or takes a look at it from time to time. Life is super busy with all of my classes, work, and spending as much time as possible with Emily. There has been a lot that has happened since school started, and I will do my best at recapping and putting up pictures. I feel bad about calling family and talking to them and letting them know what is going on in my life. I truly am sorry, it is not because I do not want to talk to my family it just has been so busy and hectic that I feel I have no time to do anything.

To start things off Emily and I got the All Sports Pass here at BYU, it means that we get to go to basically any sporting event for a flat fee that we payed in the beginning of August. We have gone to the FSU and CSU football games and the FSU game was very disappointing but the CSU game was exciting during the first quarter. We have had good seats for the most part for the games, they rotate every home football game so it is like Christmas every week when we find out where we are going to be sitting.

Emily's family came out for the CSU football game because it was family weekend and that was a lot of fun. We did not do a whole lot of studying which was nice. We went to a family dinner that was put on for the parents and the kids on Friday night and then on Saturday before the football game we went to a tailgate at the Hinckley Center. The weather was beautiful and amazing and everyone had a great time. Saturday morning we all went on a hike in Provo Canyon and it was so gorgeous I could not help myself in taking pictures.

Classes are going well, as most of you know I am taking German. I have always wanted to take German in high school but the teacher was not very good so I took French instead which was a big mistake looking back on it. German is fun because Emily is in 2nd year German so she helps me speak properly and with my grammar. What I find so hard is trying to learn grammar of another language when I do not understand or get English grammar ha ha. I am able to put together simple sentences and we are talking right now in the present tense so it is not too bad. Every 2 weeks we either have a quiz or a test and every 2 weeks we have a Rollenspiel, role play, with our professor. My teacher is cool he served his mission in Germany and our teacher is another student we do not actually get a professor teaching us till we hit the 300 level classes.

My other classes are going great I love my Doctrine and Covenants class I learn so much about that amazing set of scripture that I am going to treasure for a life-time. My math class is intense our teacher teaches us more on how to read a math book than actually lecturing us on how to do calculus. HEPE is going well, hard to get to class some days especially when it is pouring down rain at 8:00 am. Economics is going well, I have my first test on Tuesday and Wednesday and I am pretty nervous for it because my teacher is intense and I heard his tests are extremely hard so we will see how that goes. Next semester I am taking the next Calculus class, second half D&C, German 102, and a class with Emily and probably one more class.

Work is going well, I feel like I work so much but it is good because I need the money especially since I am saving for a ring ha ha. That is still weird to say some days, to think that I am actually going to be engaged soon, but I am excited for it though. That is about everything that is happening in my life and I am sorry again that I do not update this blog better I apologize and will do better I promise.

Wes's Homecoming

Wes my little brother came home from his mission last Friday. His homecoming was definitely good it had been almost four years since we last saw each other. When I said goodbye to Wes I told him I did not want to see him for four years because I wanted him on his mission before I came home. He served an honorable two year mission in Concepcion Chile. When he walked off the plane he kept commenting on how big everyone had gotten and he looks at me and goes, "You have gotten smaller!" We both had a good laugh over that. It was good seeing Wes and hearing about his experiences that he had in Chile. My favorite was how he described electric showers. Wes also sounded like a latino for the first couple of days and we all had a good laugh listening to his english and his grammar. He is an amazing guy and it is very nice having him home. I do not think he understands just how much I look up to him and admire him. If you looked at us side by side you would say Wes was the older sibling and I would agree with that statement. The way he acts and holds himself is something that I have always admired about him. He truly is an amazing younger brother and when I think of Wes I am always drawn to the story of Nephi in the Book of Mormon. I love him very much and I am grateful that we will be at school together this upcoming year so we can hang out and so I can finally see him play baseball in almost five years. Another cool part with Wes coming home was the opportunity of seeing all of my nieces and nephews. I love all of them and this trip was the first time that Luke actually came to me when I called him and he gave me a hug. Luke is Cari's son and he is the cutest kid ever with his sweet hair. Anyways enjoy the pictures. We also golfed at Deer Creek which was pretty sweet and I hit the ball pretty well for the first time in over a year.

About Time

Well I guess it is about that time to update my blog. I have no idea if anyone even checks this thing but nonetheless it needs to be updated. I found out that I did not get into either the accounting program or the management program at BYU. I have decided then to focus on my minor which I decided is going to be Economics and try to become a certified Actuary. I will be reapplying to the management school for next year and hopefully in three years I will have a Finance major, Econ minor, and I am a certified Actuary. I know lofty goals but I got to be diverse in this economic mess. To help me along in my school studies mom and dad and with the help of Cari and Seth found me a sweet laptop from Best Buy. I must say it was a steal it is an HP lots of memory and RAM and it has a web cam built in which is fabulous. Work is still there annoying but there. I am pretty fed up with Deer Creek and all of their antics. I do like working at LionsGate with Brent and Jacque again. You can see the difference in servers and management pretty quickly. Wes comes home in a few days and it will have been just about three years and nine months since I last saw him. I am so stoked to finally see him after this long time apart. The last memory I have of him is when I entered the MTC and we hugged we cried and I told him that I did not want to see him in four years. I am also excited to hear his latino accent and see if he can speak english again. Everything else is going well biking to work everyday has its upside my legs are getting better and the minimal fat that I did have on me is all gone so I am 2x's ripped. Life is good and I am excited to get back up to BYU so Emily and I can finally be together after this long summer. Loves all around.

Way Too Long

Well it has been way too stinking long since I last updated this. I moved back home because I could not find a job in Houston and I needed to start making some money for this upcoming school year. I have been working with my dad and at Deer Creek Golf Club where I have worked on and off since i was 16. Houston was amazing I loved every single minute I was there.

Emily's dog Buster looks like our beagle Sarge

Emily and I

Emily and I again

Deer Creek is going okay, they are super unorganized ever since they let Brent go about a year ago. At least it is hours and I am not complaining though, they have me working the outdoor grill where I stand there and cook up hamburgers for the golfers. If ya'll want a mean hamburger my skills are perfected ha ha ha.

I also found out about the accounting program and I did not get in. It sucks and it is hard to read when they say we regret to inform you, but whatever the reasoning behind it is what is best for me. I am hoping the management program lets me in and I will major in Finance and then later down the road get my MBA and then take the CPA exam. Thank you all for reading my essay, and editing it for me. Other than all of this life is good. Emily is good she is working a lot as a life guard and teaching swimming lessons. I miss her a lot and cannot wait to see her in the fall and go on some hot dates with her.

HOUSTON!!

Well I am in Houston and I am loving life. I like it here very green small skinny tall trees and the humidity is amazing. I love the heat and how humid it gets here. I am living with a family that lives basically right behind Emily's family. Every night I drive one of the cars over to this persons house and then I wake up in the morning and come back over and run errands look for jobs etc. I go to the pool almost everyday because Emily is a guard at a pool and her younger brother Michael and I go visit her for an hour or so. I am applying to golf courses and restaurants and whatever else comes my way. I will be putting up some pictures once i get some and since I have this new sweet camera that I got at Christmas I should take more pictures.

ACCOUNTING PROGRAM

A few days ago I found out some information about the accounting program at Brigham Young University (BYU). I am on the waiting list for the 2009-2010 school year. I got an email telling me that I needed to log into the Marriott School and check the status of my application and this is what the accounting program told me:

Thank you for your application to the School of Accountancy. The Admissions Committee has designated your application to be discussed in our admissions meeting scheduled for the week of July 6. Having your application assigned to this meeting is an important step in the admissions process because approximately 150 students will be admitted to the School of Accountancy during this meeting. We expect to send notices of final admissions decisions through email by July 15.

I am grateful for everyone that read and edited my essay. I know that it is because of my essay that the Admissions Committee decided to review my application in the meeting on July 6. Thank you all again and I am excited to hear what the decision is going to be in the middle part of July.

First One

Today I got my first sale while working at APX. Let me tell you this has been a very long and tedious process. I have knocked all day Saturday, Monday, Tuesday, and today (Wednesday) before I got this first sale. The sale came around 7:35 at night and I left the house around 8:45 while the techs were installing the security system. I am not sure how much detail I can go into but he was the coolest chillest guy I have ever met. He is a solid customer who will definitely use his system and it feels good that I have protected a family. It is a great feeling and I appreciate all the love and support that ya'll have given me.
